My Own Family’s Weight Loss Journey
My husband was incharge of growing a startup. In three years, he gained 40 pounds! He “winged it” and got fatter.
In the early days, he habitually exercised twice a day. Waking early to jog four miles before work — and lifting weights in the gym during his lunch.
But when the Doctor mandated — reduce his dangerously high cholesterol count, “winging it” just didn’t cut it anymore.

So, We Did Something Most Overweight People Dream of Doing…
We decided to go on a diet together.
But I am a health clinician, so when I read a statistic on the effectiveness of diets, I grew concerned.

That wasn’t going to cut it for my husband’s health…

The First Test, Strange Circumstances…
We started our Medical Weight Loss Protocol on-board a rocky boat on the Pacific Ocean during a week long sailing vacation…
…followed by another week on-land, in Hawaii.
…Ok, maybe starting a diet, while on vacation in paradise surrounded by all that wonderful food — was a bit out-of-the-ordinary.
But I didn’t believe what I was hearing from other overweight folks:
“You have to set special time aside in life to begin a diet”
…As if losing fat was a date with a long, barefoot slog through the hot desert.
That sounded more like fear and procrastination speaking, than fact….
And a fact of obesity is that you WILL have a wake up call from your doctor. Then, you’ll have to make a choice:
“Do I wait for something catastrophic to happen with my health like a stroke or a heart attack?”
“Or do I take control and make small adjustments that could add as much as a decade to my life?”
Another fact is that there’s never a perfect time to start losing fat…
So we decided to make our vacation a kind of experiment.
Could two, reasonably normal people, not used to starting a new diet, while outside their comfort-zone, on a sailboat, quickly and effectively lose weight?
The Result: SUCCESS!
Now we had something that most dieters’ only dream of having…
And lose weight we did…
My husband returned from our vacation 28 pounds lighter.
At 45-days his size 38 waist slimmed down to a size 33 waist – he took 26 years off his Biological Age!
(He is 51 years old and wears the same pant size he wore in High School at age 18!).
