When You Are Overweight
It’s okay to be overweight. Who cares what people will say? People will always try to judge you for not making your own choices, so why care about what they say?
Wouldn’t you prefer to be happy?
Those are the kinds of things I’d tell you if I didn’t care about your well-being.
If you are overweight, or obese, and you tell yourself that you’re happy; then I’d strongly recommend that you think about how happy you actually are.
Does your happiness mean you are okay with giving up control over a body? Would you prefer to be a sheep, owned by someone else’s directive?
You may think that you are happy with the way you are, but what you don’t understand is there are companies profiting from your obesity.
There are individuals who do not want to see you achieve your weight loss goals – or even think of forming any – because your unhealthy eating habits bring in more money for them.
In the global industrial food system, there are ten leaders that you bow down to – whether you like it or not. There’s no such thing as being your own person when you struggle with obesity.
You may have people around you convinced that you’re in control of your life – but these companies will definitely say otherwise.
Don’t believe me? Take a look at this infographic I found and realize that all the food you eat traces back to these people:

Weight Loss Smackdown Schwarzenegger vs. Dr. Lustig
30 years ago, the leading, cutting edge science for weight loss was calorie balance.
“You need to burn more than you eat.”
Arnold Schwarzenegger was the Chairman of the President’s Council on Physical Fitness. He was a strong advocate for the calorie balance and other traditional ways said to burn belly fat.
While this solution has helped people achieve their weight loss goals, there are still 70% of the American population who have tried this method and have failed. Most of these people have become disillusioned about losing weight, believing that it’s their fault they’re not losing the weight.
If you’re part of the 70% who have tried and failed, I’d like to tell you this: it’s been scientifically proven that it is not your fault.
You’ve been going about with your weight loss regime the wrong way.
What I’m about to show you next is why exercise is good for weight maintenance but not weight loss. I ask that you keep an open mind, so that you can use what is left of your commitment energy to focus on what will give you guaranteed weight loss.
Dr. Lustig’s take on why what you’ve done in the past won’t work and it will blow your mind – and restore your hope too. Watch for yourself:
One of Dr. Lustig’s wishes is to tell people struggling with obesity that the advice they’ve received for years just won’t work.
Does that mean Arnold was wrong? No. As I mentioned earlier, his advice has worked for many people – but it won’t work for everyone. Exercise and other traditional “weight loss” methods actually fare better for weight maintenance as opposed to weight loss. 30 years ago, we didn’t know this. We know it now because science has evolved and allowed us to see what we couldn’t see before.
Arnold’s insights allowed for more research and development to take place in order for people with all body types to find what works for them. 30 years is a long time – a lot is bound to have changed.
Dr. Lustig is able to confidently speak on his findings because of the advances in science that have revealed the hormones responsible for weight gain. Taking a deeper look into the pleasure center of the brain has also given more exposure on how appetite satiation and hunger cessation work.
Your weight loss attempts were valid – but you’ve been channeling that energy in the wrong direction. But now that you know better, it’s time to redirect your focus to what will work for you.
In the next series of posts, I’m going to take you on a journey that will lead to the weight loss you’ve wanted for so long. There’s so much for you to see, and I am confident once you’ve read, watched, and listened to this immensely important information, you’ll have an even stronger renewed drive to give your weight loss journey another go.

WTF?! Running 3.4 Marathons
We’re about to do the math that will show you exercise – no matter how intense – is not how you’re going to lose excess pounds of body fat.
You’d think running a marathon would be a surefire way to lose a lot of pounds, but it isn’t – and we can prove it.
Here are the stats:
Calorie burn running one (26.2 mile) Marathon: 2,600 cals
Calorie expenditure to burn one pound of fat: 3,500 cals
Add an additional 2,000 calories to that and we can do our calculations:
3,500 x 2 (2-Lbs) + 2,000 (Glycogen) = 9000 cals
That means you need to burn 9,000 calories to lose 2-pounds. To lose 2 pounds, you’ll have to run 3.4 marathons – that is 89 miles.
I’ll ask you this: When do you plan to run 3.4 marathons consecutively?
It’s not realistic – and it’s not good for you. Such labor intensive exercise will end up doing more harm than good, and that is not what a weight loss journey should be about. In our last post, we showed you why the “exercise to lose weight rhetoric” is outdated and untrue for millions of Americans.
In this post, I’ll show you a real life story of someone who figured out the true secret to losing weight in a healthy, beneficial way:

Find a weight loss program
When you’re looking for the best weight loss program, it’s important to look for one that you can stick to, but also has great results.
Look out for programs that target a safe rate of weight loss consistently – there are so many fad diets that claim to help you to lose 10 pounds in a week, when realistically a more sustainable rate is 2 pounds a week.
When you’re reviewing weight loss programs, you want one that offers guidance & advice throughout the program, rather than just giving you a bulk of information in one go, and leaving you to your own devices.
Most of the popular weight loss programs will have success stories behind them; but if you’ve heard all the different names but not sure what each one entails, read on below.
Jump Start MD
As one of the most well-known plans out there; Jump Start MD is a managed program that starts with a medical examination to see what sort of shape you’re in, then focuses on the “5 M’s” – Meals, Movement, Mindset, Medicine & Maintenance, which means diet, exercise, mental commitment to the cause, medical exams and looking after yourself long term.
Probably the most famous diet plan in the world, WW has been around for years. Originally started in 1963; today it’s a worldwide brand with meetings taking place every week all over the world. Weightwatchers works on a points system, where no food is off limits, but you’re meant to basically consume less calories and exercise more, and at the end of the week go and meet and record your weight with your local rep.
Founded in 1983 by weight loss guru Jenny Craig and her husband, today they have over 700 centres throughout the US, Australia and New Zealand.
The Jenny Craig diet focuses on eating well with exercise, and regular counselling to ensure you’re staying on top of the new way of life. The local counsellor will create a diet plan for you that you’re meant to stick to, in order to see the best results.
The Paleo diet is aimed at eating as many natural foods as possible, such as plenty of fruit & veg, nuts, seeds and of course grass-fed meats. The Paleo diet is considered a complete lifestyle change & program, meaning that you’ll never go back to eating things that they believe put a strain on your intestines, such as potatoes, dairy products, salt and processed foods. As there is a restricted food choice, people have been known to experience a lack of energy & tiredness, mainly due to the lack of carbs compared to what they are used to.

Step 7 – Shift Focus to Weight Stabilization
Stabilization is where things get interesting …
This is a two-part process:
- Daily eating plan
- Managing diet slip-ups
While no diet is a vaccine against weight gain – the notion of a balanced diet is the basis of Stabilization.
Balance is where things do not change.
You neither lose nor gain weight when you eat a well-balanced diet!
Per Dr. Chanh, during the maintenance phase, it is recommended that we separate carbohydrates and fats, or sugar and fats, daily…
Sugar makes you gain weight; so, does fat – that’s why you separate them. As long as you separate fats and carbohydrates, you control Insulin release (fat storage).
Your weight loss coach will design an eating plan for you that helps make eating the right foods at the right TIME of your day easy to do properly.
Step 8 – Reestablish Your Healthy Relationship With Food
The last way to succeed at Weight Loss Science is a strategy to enjoy eating.
It’s impossible to achieve long-lasting balance in life if there is no pleasure.
Most people who fail to maintain a healthy weight, particularly when going it alone do so because either…
- They fail at weight loss (The reduction to healthy weight is no good)
- They fail at weight maintenance (The addiction rehabilitation is no good)
According to the University of Los Angeles, the average dieter may lose 5-10% of their initial weight. Without a plan for long-term weight stabilization that includes pleasure — they regain the lost weight, plus more.
This is why they struggle and you won’t.
If you had to stabilize your weight for life by eating only three little green peas and a green leaf you would be very depressed – you’d never manage to stabilize your weight!
The first notion that is reintroduced after completing medically supervised weight loss is the importance of pleasure.
There can be no pleasure if there are no diet slip-ups.
Your WLS coach can discuss this weight stabilization strategy called “managing diet slip-ups”.
The single most impactful action you can take right now is to set up what I call the unbeatable WLS mindset.
The WLS mindset is the Ultimate Weight Loss Kick-off Gameplan and it is… unfortunately… far too involved to cover here. (Wow… I just noticed this article is over 3,000 words.)
